The latest THORNode update being deployed to testnet signals the last step before resuming BNB/BEP2 trading on chaosnet.
THORChain has been offline for trading for nearly two months, but the team has been heads down hardening the network and working on advanced security initiatives to ensure a smooth re-launch.
The latest THORNode updates have been deployed to testnet, and include a number of bug fixes and exploit-mitigation techniques. Once the update has been validated on testnet, the team will then ask node operators to adopt it on chaosnet so that Binance Chain trading may resume.
Binance Chain, which includes BNB and BEP2 assets, will be the first chain to resume trading. After audits are complete for the UTXO related code, Bitcoin, Litecoin, and BCH trading will also resume.
Finally, the Ethereum related contracts and Bifrost code will undergo extensive audits -- ERC20 router code is complex and was the source of the previous exploits. Once it has been deemed safe, full trading for ETH and ERC20s will resume and the THORChain network will be back up and running in full.
The team will then be able to focus once again on various features -- such as ThorFi, synthetics, and more -- and continue working towards a mainnet launch aimed to go live at the end of the year.
